When should RSVPs be due?

Weddings commonly need an earlier cutoff because caterers and seating plans require final numbers. Casual birthdays can use a shorter window. Whatever date you choose, avoid making it the same day your vendor needs the count—late replies are normal.

What if guests do not reply?

Send a friendly reminder a couple of days after the deadline. A short message such as “We’re finalizing the headcount today and would love to know if you can join us” is clear without sounding harsh.
